Espresso brew ratio recipe
A measurable espresso start. Dose and beverage mass define the ratio. Shot time is a diagnostic clue; it is not a quality target to hit while taste and flow are ignored.

Evidence and limits
An SCA survey of current espresso practice reported an average 1:2 ratio, 18–20 g dose, 36.5 g beverage and 25–30 seconds. CupTune uses 18 g, 36 g and 30 seconds as a survey-grounded starting point, not a correctness standard.
What to hold steady
Keep dose, water, temperature, pouring pattern and filter preparation the same while testing one grind change.
What this cannot guarantee
Grinder distribution, roast, water chemistry and equipment geometry change the result. Record the actual brew rather than treating this recipe as a verdict.
